Click to view full-size. 1942-1944 Monopoly Game #6 Blue Box Wartime Version using Wood Cylinders Games with Wood Cylinders were used exclusively in the #6 Blue Box Games during WW2. In my opinion the games with Wood Cylinders were produced after the start of World War 2 version before the use of the Special Wartime Train Cover with production spanning 1942 to approximately 1944. All the components are wood, including the dice, to be in compliance with the War Production Board Mandates to the conserve metal to wartime production. Another indicator of manufacture dates was that earlier #6 versions had Salmon 100s and later versions light yellow 100s. There are 2 specific cylinder sizes. The game pictured was sealed with wax paper and the money, deeds, and Chance & Community Chest cards were wrapped with paper. Not really rare, but Very Rare with the Money, Deeds, C & CC cards still in their original wrappers. |
